Living Room Before & After

Updated: Jan 3, 2019

This living room transformation is extra special because I did it for my momma. This room in our house was the least used room. It was cold, spread out, and plain.

Before

I had already gotten this coffee table from Wayfair for her last Christmas, but the room still needed some serious TLC. It is a particularly difficult room to work with because it is so large, but the focal point (fireplace) is in the far right corner of the room. Before, we had all of the furniture pushed to the walls, leaving dead floor space and making the room feel awkward.

After

Our budget was not ginormous, so I ended up working with the furniture we already had. By pulling it all in and creating a vignette centered around the fireplace, the room feels much more intentional and inviting. (the rug pictured was definitely wayy too small for the space, so we ended up returning it for a larger 8x12)

Adding in accessories is really the touch that takes a room from nothing special to complete and beautiful. One of the easiest ways to refresh your space is to add an area rug, throw pillows, and accessories. See what a difference it made?

All of the new decor we purchased came from Target or Home Goods. On the fireplace, I added some vases to the hearth and layered prints on the mantle. Bringing in greenery is also another great way to liven up any room in your home. I like to add small moments throughout the space to give color and warmth to a room.

My mom loved the room so much, this is what she had to say about the experience, "I really enjoyed working with Kylie as she is creative and used what we had but added some new touches such as pillows and a new rug to create a new space in our living room. By moving around our furniture, and giving a fresh new look to the space, we now love to hang out in that living room whereas before, we would rarely use that room. The room is warm and inviting. She can see a room in a new light and bring life to a space that wasn’t there before."
